[thelist] Secure document dissemination software suggestion

Hello,

I would appreciate feedback from others who have setup
secure websites for customers to retrieve files.

We need a way to group users and apply various access
levels to the documents (files).  This will of course
have to be melded with our current public site which
has a homegrown php CMS.

I would prefer to finalize on an open source solution
but would like references for anything that is highly
regarded by evolters.
