For the second time in as many months, I've had a nightmarish problem with
IIS5 on Win2k Server. For some reason, at this point unknown to me, it's
been failing with the following error:
Type: Error
Event ID: 7031
The World Wide Web Publishing Service service terminated unexpectedly. It
has done this 53 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in
0 milliseconds: No action.
What I've found so far suggests a corrupt metabase or possible infection by
Code Red. I'm not sure how to check if the metabase is corrupt, but I can
say for certain the machine is not infected with Code Red.
My "solution" before was to back everything up and rebuild. I *really*
don't have the time for that right now. Plus, the client on this machine
isn't going to be too pleased about the loss of business during the
downtime.
Anybody have any ideas?
