   var regex = /^\s+$/;

Thanks for such an elegant and simple piece of code. It has got me to look
at regex's in JavaScript (they exist! wow!) and to realise that you can have
try/catch in JS as well as in Java... Doh! I feel very behind-the-times,

My trial-and-error explorations revealed that your isWhitespace function
returns false for the empty string, is this what you intended? I changed the
regex to /^\s*$/; and it returns true also for "".
