    However, the original question involved the use of custom _attributes_,
not tags (or elements). Internet Explorer since version 4 has supported
custom attributes under the moniker "expando properties" [1]. Using expando
properties on the Internet would probably not be advisable, of course, but
within the context of an Intranet they can be quite useful.
