There's an interesting bug in Internet Explorer 5.5 [1] if you don't 
declare image sizes on rollover border effects.

Some of the images don't have the width height set, so when you rollover 
the image in that browser the whole image disappears!

[1] haven't tried IE6 or IE4. Rollover works fine in Firebird and Opera.

As others will point out, pages without image sizes coded have a 
re-rendering effect as the images load into the empty image 
placeholders, thus moving the text 'round.
