Excellent! I really like these. Using a definition list expresses the
semantic relationship between the caption and the image perfectly: it could
be said that "the caption 'defines' the 'term' (i.e. the image)". And with a
bit of style-sheeting these can turn out any way you want them.

BTW, I tried that link you gave me[1] to creating captions in JavaScript
from image title attributes, but found some positioning problems on
WinNT/IE5.5 - the caption was separating from the image and other elements
were appearing in between.
