Does it have to open inside the browser? In A. Reader, Preferences uncheck Internet -> Display PDF in browser and the file will open in a 'standalone' Reader window. Much less crash prone and all tools available. I used to have it that way for Word too but I don't find the setting now. Tips about that appreciated! :-)
