This happens to me all the time too! In fact, I've probably got half a dozen
emails saved in my Drafts folder which I started writing to this list, but
never sent, because in the midst of writing it, I thought of something new
to try and got through it on my own. (So be grateful, everyone!) My theory
is that no matter how much you think you've thought it through to yourself,
you usually get a fresh perspective on it when trying to explain it to
someone else, either verbally or in written form. I've found that verbally
can sometimes work just as well, and can take less time, if you've got
someone around willing to listen. (They sometimes don't even need to know
exactly what you're talking about! Often just putting the effort into the
explanation is sufficient to trigger new thoughts.)
