I posted the code to a forum and used the built-in code forum code ie

and all of a sudden the code was littered with asterisks "*" where a 
space " " should have been
hence the parser errors.

Copying from safari into dreamweaver.

never come accross that before - but is another argument for hand 
coding tutorials.
