I agree with all your points, barring e) - Rob didn't specify that the
upload graphic was an interactive one, so I assumed the only relevant data
was the completion or failure of the upload, not it's actual progress.

However, I considered that I would change the ordering of the actions you
listed as a) c) d) b) f) - essentially displaying the graphic BEFORE
executing the upload. Then it struck me that there would be no need for
redirection/transfer/execution at all, as then the graphic could indeed be
hidden by client-side CSS/script in the same page as you suggested,
providing the file upload was executed asynchronously.

Thanks for giving me another angle to look at it from!
