You won't go back to IE...seriously.
I made the switch over a month and a half ago and it's been great!
Tabbed browsing is wonderful and the available extensions really make
browsing a productive experience.
From the web dev point of view, it really makes sense to switch. For
one, there are some great extensions for FF that can really streamline
your workflow. (specifically, the DOM Inspector, Web Developer, and the
various cookie manager extensions)
But the big reason for me is that FF's standards compliance make it
soooo much easier to develop CSS and code for FF and then test on IE
than it is to build first for IE then test on FF (unless you're doing
IE-specific stuff like ActiveX). You'll find that you'll have fewer
adjustments that need to be made to get things to work in IE if you
start with Firefox.
Of course, once you've officially made the switch to Firefox, you'll
then want to replace Outlook/OE with Thunderbird! (made that switch also
about a month ago) :-)
