[thelist] jedit > converting certain words into special chars?

Hi there (yes I have googled for this)

I have recently begun using and liking jEdit. It's great, except for the 
fact that yesterday it began converting the strings "in" and "div" into 
spoecial characters striaght after I type them into a file.

As you can see, for a programmer, and a web programmer at that, this is 
well, a problem.

Anyone know why this would be so? fix?
