Thanks for the help!

Turns out that if I added the vertical-align:middle to all of the
components on the menu bar and then add a line-height to the menu bar,
that fixed that.

And simple negative margin fixed the menu.

Ah the joys of CSS, sometimes what looks so hard is so simple. Thanks
all for the help, super appreciated!
