I just got married today. Officially.... 

My wife needed a copy of our marriage certificate so that she could renew
her South African passport. Fair enough request. I went to the Hays County
Clerks office a few days ago and asked to duplicate and certify our
certificate:

"I'm sorry, but you're not married."

"What!?"

"Your preacher has not filled out your marriage certificate."

"You're kidding! This was almost 4 YEARS AGO! He started a company called
Global ...something... There's no telling where he is now."

"I'm sorry, I can't duplicate and certify this certificate unless he fills
it out."

"I'm sorry too."

Great! Panicked, I started calling around and the church office said he
still works here in my town. What a miracle!? I tracked him down this
afternoon and he FINALLY filled out our Marriage Certificate. All this time,
I've been living with a woman, I haven't been married to, and had a child
out of wedlock to boot. The duplicated certified certificate is on it's way
to my wife now. Moral of the story, make sure the pastor signs the marriage
certificate the day you get married.
