Yes, there's a discussion on drupal : "How does Drupal compare to Mambo?"

And the result is the same : Mambo can be used as can be other CMS of 
course, but drupal is superior in many terms, except in eye candiness, 
small amount of modules and few templates availables. Plus the fact that 
drupal comes with too few plug ins / modules installed by default.
Some are necessary for any site you make, like the HTMLAREA module, very 
handy.
