[thelist] countries in registration script

Hi all

Im trying to find a script plus data that allows the reg page to be 
reloaded once a country is given, that the states / county / department 
only in that country appear in a drop down list.

I'm thinking that this data ought to be kept in a db rather than 
downloading the entire list of all of the location data to be then 
parsed out.

The states / country info (town ?) would probably be assigned a fixed 
number that is then in turned sent to the users profile.

Is this sort of data plus associated scripts available? either a self 
modifying j.script ie via DOM nodes or a refreshing reg page would work

ideas? urls? suggestions?
