[thelist] Do comments cause hit on system?

Don't HTML comments force the HTML to be downloaded in blocks from the server? Not sure if this has a negative effect on server resources or not, but my guess is that it could. I was taught to use only ASP commenting but I must admit that I dont stick to that.

Comments can certainly be of benefit; a caveat being that since HTML
comments are accessible to everyone, one should take care with the
information that's included in source code. Information about the
organisation, employee's names, file structures, system architecture etc.
should be avoided.

Example: If developers are distributed geographically then people on the
other end of the phone are less likely to know them well. Consider this
comment:

This may be of use to other developers, but it's also excellent for
engineers of the social persuasion.

1) Name: Chris Marsh
2) Job: Web developer
3) Date definitely employed at organisation: 31/12/2005
4) Nationality: Not US
5) Website worked on: www.example.com

Chris Marsh
