A text that needs a drop shadow to be readable is an indicator of a 
background that is either too busy or does not have enough contrast. 
Regardless of being an image or a text that may or may not get a 
dropshadow via CSS it is hardly accessible.
The only benefit is maintenance, as, unless you create the graphics on 
the fly on the server, you'll need to update the image and the 
alternative text every time there is a change.
