Roger Black has great credibility in the print industry (he designed many
influential fonts, and "designed or redesigned Rolling Stone, The New York
Times Magazine, Newsweek, McCall's, The New Republic, Fast Company, Reader's
Digest, Foreign Affairs, Advertising Age, Esquire, and now the National
Enquirer (to name just a brief sampling)*".

I have found his book 'web sites that work' says recognised things to print
people and makes sense to me

I give this book to EVERY graphics person I work with that was moving to the
web:

Taking Your Talent to the Web: Making the Transition from Graphic Design to
Web Design by Jeffrey Zeldman

http://url123.com/9wcaw

He uses a lot of buzzwords and terminology that graphic designers use that
internet guys like me know nothing about. Actually, it helped me to
understand better where the graphics guy was coming from too.

I highly recommend it.

Hope that helps,

Don Makoviney

Hello Everyone:

I know this maybe a bit too vague, but any suggestions would be helpful.

We will soon be hiring a creative director who has tons of experience
in the print industry, but almost none in the web design/development
world. Her primary role will be to create storyboards, layouts, and
generally guide our designers when creating websites, logos, etc.

My role will be mentoring her since she is not that familiar with our
side of the design world; and I am not that familiar with the print world.

Any tips/suggestions that you can give would be helpful. Any sites I
should check for terminology differences? What should I watch out for?
I'm trying to ease her transition into our products & services.

Thanks for any help,
Burhan
