Hrm... two things...

While I know it's "the future", what use is 64 bit when Final Cut Pro,
Avid or Premiere are all 32 bit? And saying that XP isn't 64 bit capable
is myopic, there is a version out there for 64 bit processors.

Oh, and 2000 to 3000 pounds is a bit more than someone with a "max" of
$4000 is looking for.

Don't get me wrong, I like Macs. My MD's PowerBook laptop has convinced
me that that will be my next system... but it seems in this case that
whatever performance benefit you get from G5 processors (versus the top
of the line x86) is nebulous at best, and at a much higher hardware cost.
