Hi Sylvia,

You might check your version of DirectX. At Windows Update, 
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/, it should show as a non-critical 
update.

In my experience, if you have a problem with Windows software crashing, 
then upgrading the operating system from 2000 to XP would not do 
anything to correct this. From this experience, I typically format the 
drive and do a completely fresh install of XP. An upgrade in place 
sometimes introduces problems where custom software has replaced Windows 
DLLs with their custom DLLs.
