what would you think is a good number of users hitting the site before 
you get a noticable performance drop? is there benchmark? if i can only 
promise 1000 all hiting the site at once, could the client do better 
elsewhere? is some hosting better known for handling high demand?



Really this depends on the server setup and bandwidth available to the
server and several other things. If 1000 folks are expected to send a
request all at the same time there might be a slight lag, but so many
factors influence this that it would foolish to posit an answer.
