Comments, not tags:

   <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="whatever" -->

   <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->

There's also a way to "hide" specific CSS styles from the Contribute
user, but I don't have those notes handy. Check the Contribute doc,
or ping me later if you can't find it. :-)
