[thelist] 2 col layout, need a little help

hey guys, got this 2 column layout i'm working on:

right now it works great, i'm using the negative margin trick with the
faux columns. however, i'm running into a slight problem when the
content on the page is below a minimum height, as you can see, that
little fishy graphic is too far up... it should be at the bottom of
the page inline with the blue menu on the left.

any ideas? i know min-height is the easy answer approach but wondering
if there is maybe a better way to layout the page? i particulary like
the use of negative margins so the main content comes first then the
menus in the code.
