[thelist] Too many (old) javascript resources to choose from...

Hello,

While searching the archives I found a few JS lists that I'll probably
join soon (and search their archives as well) but seeing as how JS is
ontopic I thought I'd ask here first.

I'm contemplating a redesign of the backend UI for my ecommerce
application and I'd like to implement some advanced functionality via
JS. Luckily I'll be building for one specific browser (Firefox) and
won't have to worry about cross browser issues.

I plan to implement some AJAX (though that is not why I'm writing this
email) and some programatically controlled moving objects. For example
I'd like to have a navigation bar similar to the taskbar on Windows and
OS X that hides itself when not in use (it would be on the top of the
page). I want to maximize the vertical space available to me* and this
is one way I am considering doing it.

The problem I've run into is that the only sites I've been able to find
(possibly because of the search terms I have used) seem to be from the
late 90's and early 00's. I'd like to have some modern code to learn
from.

I'd appreciate links to sites that use modern JS and that have moving
objects or tutorials on the subject. Specific examples would be great if
possible.

* I'll probably be designing for 800x600 since most of my users complain
that "everything is too small!" when their screen is set at 1024x768.
