If anybody should be paying it's the company that hired you. I used to work
for a recruiting company in Japan and companies would pay 35% of the
employees first year salary to the recruiting company. No, this doesn't mean
that the employee looses 35% of their salary, that payment is over and above
their regular salary.

for jobs they got for you? And if so what is a common percentage to be used?
