In fact, IE Mac users make up >2% of our total web statistics, or about
5,000 people a week. Since MS isn't supporting it any longer, should we
as developers continue to test and design for a lost cause?

Hmmmmm. What will Mac users use? Older versions of IE? Newer versions of
Mozilla?

We should test and design for as much as we can test and design for. Mac
users who use IE will likely retain their copy of IE for a while, and then
move to a smarter choice, like Mozilla or Opera.
