She's right. You want to have as much interest and variety as possible while 
maintaining consistency in appearance and process. Clearly, these two goals 
have a certain amount of tension between them. If the site is always “the 
same”, there is no reason to keep coming back. However, if the “look and 
feel” change radically, your visitors become disoriented.

Remember what is Rule Number One with web sites (and it is also the name of 
one of the very best books on web site design): “Don’t Make Me Think.” 
Unfamiliar pages and methods force people to think.
