I just split your question to two parts. The latter (with Y!) might be 
irrelevant to your problem.

The main concept is as I wrote earlier - make fully functional app with 
classic forms, independent of scripting. Then attach JS events to the 
links and forms and use XHR. Sure you need a flexible backend for this. 
Consider this as an additional feature with additional needs. Not the 
main way of behaving.
