I have an older version of MySQL 3 that I am running. I need to
upgrade to 4.0.23, but I am always leary of upgrading databases. I'm
just afraid that I'll screw it up and lose a whole day trying to get
things restored.

Anyway, my current install is running on the C drive of my development
box. Can I just follow this process?

1. Set the old version of MySQL to run only on manual startup
2. Shut down the old version
3. Install the new version on the D drive
4. Set the new version to run on startup
