I'm glad we could be of help.  I don't know of a tool to create regex's
specifically designed for OSX, but I did find an online tool that allows you
to test regex's.

I tested it with some back referencing regex's as well as some negative look
ahead asserts and it seemed to work.  Since those are the more complicated
constructs, I think it'll be able to test most of the regex's you can come
up with.
