Hi all,

for those whose mobile phone provider offers mobile web access, and are
lucky enough to have an HTML capable phone, check this out:

<tip type="Google mobile" author="Ian Anderson">
Google are trialling a new service that allows you to surf the web more
easily and productively from your mobile phone. On your phone, go to
www.google.com (or www.google.co.uk) - you should see a pared-down
version of the google home page.

The clever bit is, google are proxying the pages you visit through this
search, converting them into more suitable form for navigating on your
phone and offering a special set of links at the foot of the page to
turn off images or return easily to the search results.

To try it without a phone, go to http://www.google.com/xhtml

Privacy issues aside, it's excellent for the user experience, and also
offers special features - see
http://www.google.co.uk/mobile/web_search.html for more information
