I'm not sure I get what you mean the div is  gallerycontent  the 
subject="David Goldhagen" is a list of artist  that creates a menu where you 
can either manually scroll to their bio or it rotates.

I don't see how it would work without the artist name appearing on the list 
or over their work guess you'd have to go to the site to

What's the purpose of the attribute?  Why would a logical DIVision of the
page require a subject attribute?  I say just remove it as invalid markup
and move on.
