I didn't think checkboxes were windowed controls; I know the SELECT isn't in FF, so I'd be really surprised if checkboxes were. Any chance they just have an errant z-index (or maybe your layer is partially transparent)?
Just grasping at straws here...

I'm using the onmouseover and onmouseout events to bring up a hidden layer and display text about an item. The page is a multi-column listing of check boxes and "titles". The descriptive info is stored in the hidden layer and appears on the roll over of the Title.
I have it working great with one exception, some times the check boxes show through the layer. Not always, but its repeatable for certain areas of the page. I can't seem to find the pattern. IE works fine no matter what.
I'm currently working on seeing if I can use the IFrame hack to stop this behaviour - but while that is going on I thought I could query for some more information about this.
Anyone see this with Firefox before? Again, this is just a check boxes on the page.
