Why not use CSS then?
<div class="recentNews">...content here</div>
css:
.recentNews
{
width:300px;
height:485px;
overflow:auto;
}
pros
- no extra js required
- works as expected when js disabled
- totally accessible
- some people think that auto-scrolling news tickers "suck".
cons:
- it will not be a auto-scrolling news ticker.
