[thelist] how to unset a css pseudo-class by javascript ?

Hi
I would like to make a script unobtrusive and to have a usable interface
with css on and javascript off.
 
So I would like to unset a css pseudo-class by javascript in order to 
replace
a :hover behavior with a onClick event.

Somebody knows a clean way to do this ?
