[thelist] Trouble with Google SOAP Search

I have Google SOAP Search running on a site, and it's having all kinds
of problems. Sometimes I get results, sometimes I get nothing. The
more frustrating problem is that sometimes the SOAP call fails, as if
it's not getting a response from Google.

Any suggestions for a replacement? I don't like the AJAX Search that
they provide. This is a public sector website and needs to be
accessible.
