This was the explanation:
JavaScript is hot came a long way since we used it to pop up windows
all over the place or allowed ads to slide not quite smoothly over the
screen. We're using it now in more mature ways and squeeze ideas and
functionality out of it we thought impossible several years ago. Now
we can take a closer look at the language and its implementations and
make them friendlier to other human beings. If you want to learn how
to write JavaScript that is not likely to ever fail and will not come
back to haunt you when changes are necessary, this is a workshop to
learn the tricks of the trade.
