nonsense. unless their shared hosting is atrocious, in which case no
commercial site should be using it.

I have shared hosting (at Crystal Tech) and I have complex database
queries involved in forms and they respond in a second or so.

most likely something is different in the code. really. do a
side-by-side check with a text differential tool of some kind, and
you'll probably discover that something's amiss.
