Thanks for your response.

It was IE 7 I was trying it on.

I have had a go at fixing the positioning. I tried z-index to ensure the 
button divs were on top.

I have used an existing page which may be clouding the issue with its 
existing styles.

The return false's were in the original code I found. I have used it as 
a fallback where a visitor isn't using javascript but I suppose its 
unnecessary when its actually in the javascript.
