Most browsers will actually scale the web page to fit the printed page 
width.  You will probably only see that problem in IE6, but that’s still 
usually a large share of visitors.

Hard to say for sure without seeing the (X)HTML, but you should be able 
to change the width (I suggest using 100%) and get it to print okay 
using some CSS rules for print.
