Strongly seconded. You may well have a bit of a frustrating time bringing a given attorney up to speed on the nuances of the situation, but in the long run it should be well worth the peace of mind and protection you get from taking the higher road.

I haven't, but I have an answer: talk to an attorney. Maybe a couple.

When someone is threatening you with litigation, it's not the time
to solicit random opinions from lay people. IMHO   :-)
