[thelist] Advice on building a genealogy website

I'm attempting to build a family website including displaying a family 
tree which I'd like to do in Flash.  My problem is I'm not sure where to 
begin.  I'm going to need to be able to take information contained in a 
GEDCOM file and display that information on the site as interactive 
Flash.  Similar to sites such as geni.com

I enjoy figuring this stuff out on my own and learning new techniques 
but I'll admit in this instance I just don't even have a starting 
point.  I'm looking for advice on what languages I should be looking at 
to do this in.  You know, don't want to spend the next couple of months 
learning something only to find out it doesn't lead me where I need to 
go and end up having to start on a new one.

I've looked at XML but not sure if I can have 2 parents rather than just 
1 and I don't want to have to manually update my flash every time I add 
or change something in my tree.  Any direction pointing is really 
appreciated!

On a side note, I'm really glad I stumbled onto this site.  I've learned 
so much just reading all the articles.  Great job!
