I'd suggest looking at jEdit (<http://jedit.org/>) -- written in Java, so
runs on most any platform, and highly configurable -- many plugins,
macros, templates, etc. Free/open source as well.
It's a real productivity enhancer to be able to use the exact same editor
whether I'm in my *nix / Mac environment or using a client's Windows
box.
