I love cakephp but (like many open source projects) it's documentation does leave a *lot* to be desired.
(You'll get more out of the api reference than you ever will out of the docs :)

Having said that - it is improving but it can still be frustrating sometimes.

CodeIgniter will undoubtedly have better documentation, as Ellis Labs are great at documenting their products
