Sorry, but why would you suggest wasting time on something like
phpmyadmin when there is a simple capable MySQL client already
present in any normal installation?

Which, being command-line-driven, you can use from any local or
remote shell, regardless of what else is present on the system.

The effort involved to install phpmyadmin would be far better spent
reading the MySQL docs. IMO.
