[thelist] setting up a database

Forgot to mention I'm a decent front-end coder, but mostly a visual/ 
interaction designer.

The database will be MySQL. Not sure what OS the webserver is running.  
I'm on Mac 10.5.8.
SSH might be out of my depth.
I copy/paste into Terminal every once in a long while, but prefer  
pointing and clicking.

I hooked up MySQL Quick Admin and was prompted for a username /  
password.
The FTP credentials didn't get me in.

Perhaps I should just ask for control panel access for the GUI?
If there are any other ideas I'm open to suggestions!
