Hey all.

Regardless of the database. You could store as a JSON file and just refresh it from time to time.

Stale data in this context is not a problem.

For the mapping, an openspurce project called Open Street map (not sure of the name) must have something close and with no problem on image caching.

It may be worth to have a look on this
