[Javascript] Special Characters in Alert Boxes

Thomas,

Why not put up a test page with a link to an alert with the various
special characters.
In the body of the page you could write using ü html entities the
expected appearance of the message. Then of course tell the list where
to find the page.

If you wanted the best feedback the page could have a form in which
testers could give/write details of their location/browser/anything
relevant. The output of the form could email to you and/or to this list
which would save list users from having to compose their reports in a
separate email.

If you did get it to send mail to this list please ensure relevant text
in hidden fields to explain (remind) what it was about.

Possibly it will be browsers in Japan/Russia/Israel/Arabic_countries and
other places not primarily using Roman alphabet that are least likely to
see the accented characters.

I for one would be very interested to see the results, not just for
accented characters but for others such as the £ (UK Pound Sterling)
sign.

hth
