[Javascript] How to turn off confirmation while my Javascript code is trying to close a browser window

Hi all,
I have an HTML page in which the Javascript code tries to close the browser window on clicking a button. However , some browsers are asking for a confirmation from the user before closing the window.Why does this happen and how to prevent this?
